Project Context & Background

Subject

This project was created for the subject "Skills Integration Lab 2" in my second year at Thomas More in Geel.

Team Members

It was created by my group NSM-A, which consists of Freek Boes, Yme Clonen, Manou Dierckx, Yenthe Jannis, Tuur Mentens, and myself.

Purpose & Description

This project is an exercise to create a fully interactive website for a client. We used Laravel, PHP, Vite, and a database to build it. It is a website for a theatre.

Project Setting

We worked on this project during the second semester of my second year studying IT at Thomas More in Geel. Most of the work was done at home, with about 3 hours per week on campus, including standups.

My Contributions

The tasks I contributed to in this project include:

  • Scrum leader
  • Daily standups
  • Preparing Jira
  • Use Case "Voorstellingen beheren" in Figma
  • Dropdown navigation in Figma
  • Preparing Clockify
  • Presentation slides for "unfinished features" and my pages in the demo
  • The pages "Voorstellingen", "Archief", "Meer info", "Sponsors beheren", and "Indelingen beheren" on the website
  • The creation of the tables "Show", "ShowTime", and "Layout" in the ERD and database

Project Realisation

Use Case Diagram

A Use Case Diagram visually represents how users interact with the system. For us, it showed how visitors, employees, directors, and our client would interact with it.

Entity Relationship Diagram

An Entity Relationship Diagram visually represents all the different entities and the relations between them. This is the ERD for our project, where I created the yellow entities.

Jira

We used Jira to manage our tasks and workflow. We divided the workload into sprints to ensure everything was completed in an organized manner.

Presentation

This was our Sprint 3 presentation for the client, where we showcased the current state of the website. I presented the pages I created and explained why some features were not completed on time.

Clockify

With Clockify, we tracked the time we spent working on the project from Sprint 3 onwards. I logged a total of 18 hours, 22 minutes, and 24 seconds at the time of creating this website.

Figma

In Figma, we created the prototype for the requested website. I designed the section for the use case "Voorstellingen beheren".

Hosting

We even hosted our website and used Combell to deploy it! Note that the site is in Dutch and that the information is fake.

What I've Learned

Accepting Different Work Styles

When starting this project, I would get irritated that not everyone had the same drive and passion as me. As the project progressed, I learned to focus on my own work and let others work at their own pace.

Task Splitting for Better Productivity

At the start, I felt overwhelmed because I didn’t know where to begin. Eventually, splitting tasks made me feel more relaxed and motivated!
